September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, and ICAAP has signed on as a supporter of the Midwest Dairy Council’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school program now in more than 70,000 schools nationwide, including 10,000 in the midwest, committed to making children’s health a nationwide priority by motivating students to take charge of their own wellness.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is successfully helping youth make positive changes in their schools by encouraging kids to consume nutrient-rich foods like low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Students participate in fun challenges to earn prizes and recognition for their school, and can track their healthy eating and physical activity on the website daily to measure their success.
