COCAN Meetings

The ICAAP Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect (COCAN) serves as a forum to educate and inform pediatricians, other health care providers, educators, and community service providers who are concerned with issues relating to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect of children and adolescents.

COCAN develops and advocates for appropriate policy recommendations, programs, and resources to enhance the physical and mental health and well-being of children experiencing abuse and/or neglect and their families.

Current COCAN goals include:

* collaboration with organizations in advocacy for children and their families;
* identification of professional development opportunities on current issues of child abuse and neglect
* recommendation and comment on current and pending policy and legislation related to committee mission/goals
