Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics

COSH Forms | COSH Resources

The ICAAP Committee on School Health (COSH) serves as a forum for pediatricians, school nurses, and others to discuss issues related to the health of children while in school. It facilitates collaboration between health care providers, state administrators, and school personnel, keeps members informed of relevant legislation, and addresses important school health issues.

Past activities include advising the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on revisions to the Certificate of Child Health Examination form, developing School Medication Information Sheets to assist pediatricians and others in completing required school forms, and discussing pediatrician involvement in the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Task Force. The COSH is currently collaborating with the ICAAP Committee on Sports Medicine and Fitness and other local groups to address childhood obesity, and will provide input to the IDPH in the development of a diabetes screening questionnaire for schools.
