Chicago Department of Public Health Releases Agenda

The Chicago Department of Public Health has released Healthy Chicago, the department’s agenda for the next five years. Healthy Chicago sets priority areas, defines measurable goals, and identifies strategies for achieving those goals in twelve major subject areas, including Obesity Prevention and Healthy Mothers and Babies, which includes ICAAP’s work on breastfeeding promotion. Springfield hospitals buck trend, promote breastfeeding

Few U.S. hospitals do enough to promote breastfeeding, federal health officials say.

But officials from Springfield’s two downtown hospitals say they are among the fewer than 4 percent that actually provide the full range of support for nursing mothers outlined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Physician Dinner Event: National and Local Breastfeeding Initiatives

Physicians from throughout Cook County are invited to register for the upcoming National and Local Breastfeeding Initiatives: Physicians’ Update, a dinner event to unveil a new Illinois breastfeeding policy statement to physician stakeholders and to introduce Baby-Friendly hospital initiatives across Cook County. This event will be held the evening of Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Rush University Medical Center’s Professional Building, and will feature presentations from Baby-Friendly USA and others.
