Increasing Timely Vaccination of Children: Provider Vaccine Communication & Other Evidenced-Based Strategies

Speaker: Annika Hofstetter, MD, PhD, MPH
Dr. Hofstetter is an attending physician at Seattle Childrens and an assistant professor of Pediatrics in the University of Washington Division of General Pediatrics and Hospital Medicine. She is certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and has been honored with multiple awards throughout her career, including a U.S. Fulbright Scholarship. Dr. Hofstetter serves as Region X Research Chair with the Academic Pediatric Association Continuity Research Network, is Co-Leader of the Maintenance of Certification Influenza Vaccination Project at Seattle Childrens and is a member of the Seattle Childrens Influenza Steering Committee.
Objectives
1. To describe current pediatric vaccination rates.
2. To list common barriers to vaccination.
3. To demonstrate effective vaccine communication techniques.
4. To discuss other strategies to improve timely vaccination.
