RICHI Event: Caring for Newly Arrived Immigrant Children in New Orleans: a Medical Home Model Presented by Medical Director Kim Mukerjee, MD

This talk will describe the population shift, discuss key social and health needs of newly arriving children in immigrant families and review a unique medical home model and medical-legal partnership that aims to address these urgent needs. Dr. Mukerjee is a fully bilingual (English/Spanish) general pediatrician who specializes in the care of children in immigrant families at Tulane University, where she is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. She is the medical director of the New Orleans Children’s Health Project and of immigrant and refugee health for the Tulane Department of Pediatrics. She also serves as an Associate Program Director of the Tulane-Ochsner pediatrics residency program where she enjoys teaching pediatric residents about advocacy, community medicine and health equity.
