Hepatitis B Vaccination

In partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), ICAAP is hosting a 5-month learning collaborative and quality improvement project focused on hepatitis B vaccines. The goal of this project is to achieve measurable improvements in hepatitis B vaccine administration in patients ≤24 months old by implementing standardized eligibility processes, structured follow-up, and education using quality improvement tools.

Practices must provide primary care to patients aged 0 to 24 months in Illinois, complete monthly de-identified retrospective chart reviews, and submit monthly PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) worksheets. Clinical teams will engage in monthly educational sessions that include: strategies for reducing missed opportunities, communication methods to reduce deferrals/refusals, clinic readiness and vaccine supply reliability, and more.
